11 rules. Chiselled from real cases.
Each new case chisels a little more off the block of chuff data. The aim is the true truth.
Frequently chuffed questions.
Does "I'll be chuffed if…" count?
Not yet. It's ruled Hypothetical, marked with a crystal ball, and only counts if the condition comes true and they say it on screen, in the present tense (rule 3).
What if the editors cut away as they say it?
If it's plainly their voice, the chuff stands (rule 5). We don't guess why the editors cut away, even when they cut to a reindeer.
Who gets the credit for a chuff?
A presenter or judge, only if they caused the feeling: a handshake, say, or a verdict that made it. Asking the question, or praise that only gives them the moment to say it, just draws the word out. Awards get their own credit (rule 9).
I'm in a sighting and would rather not be.
